The Law No 108-05, establishes the legal frame to acquire buildings in the Dominican Republic. This law does not establish special restrictions or requirements for the foreigners who wish to acquire buildings in the Dominican territory. The process for the acquisition of a building registered in the Dominican Republic is divided in three (3) phases: The execution of the cadastral measurement, the procedure of the cleaning, and finally, the expedition of the certificate of property. However for the acquisition of registered lands the payment of the taxes of property crossing and the inscription of the sale in the registry of titles exist.
Also the possibility exists of acquiring buildings pertaining to the Dominican State. This is prevailed by a special law: Law no. 524, but also the process of state land request exists as well. It is important to know the entire relative to the rentings of real estate, the expropriation and the Tax to the Sumptuary House and Non Bilt Urban.
